The position available is for a Catering Events Houseman within the Catering Department, reporting directly to the Catering Manager. This hourly non-exempt role is essential in ensuring the seamless setup, execution, and breakdown of catering events by supporting the team in furniture setup, equipment distribution, and overall event readiness. The Catering Events Houseman will assist with varied demands ranging from moving and placing furniture, managing and polishing equipment and supplies such as tables, chairs, glasses, silverware, linens, and more. The position requires physical stamina and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays based on event needs.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more frequently
  • Physical stamina and mobility to perform tasks involving reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team oriented environment
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on safety and cleanliness
  • Previous experience in hospitality or events preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • Preferred 6 months - 1 year in hospitality, events, banquets, or a similar role (housekeeping, custodial, or food and beverage support)
  • Entry-level candidates with no prior experience who demonstrate reliability, physical ability, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to lift, move, and set up tables, chairs, staging, and event equipment (often 50+ lbs)
  • Knowledge of banquet/event setups and room configurations
  • Basic customer service and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility with schedules (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow event orders or supervisor instructions
  • Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned production tasks, including reaching, bending, stooping, wiping, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Furniture removal and placement
  • Count and distribute equipment including tables, chairs, rolling bars, china, silverware, glassware, etc.
  • Linen storage, distribution and drop off
  • Cleaning and polishing tables, chairs, rolling bars, action stations, equipment, glassware, silverware, and china
  • Event breakdown including but not limited to moving furniture, beverages, equipment, linen, glassware, china, and silverware
  • Pick up and distribute items from the catering storage area
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of all catering storage areas
  • Attend mandatory meetings
  • Bus tables
  • Perform all assigned side work
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management and supervisor
