The Catering Coordinator role at Hy-Vee is a critical position within the catering department, responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service, managing employee relations, and ensuring operational excellence. This non-exempt position reports directly to district store directors and store management, and oversees department employees to ensure quality, cleanliness, sanitation, and professional appearance. As a Catering Coordinator, you will coordinate the delivery of fresh, high-quality catering products at competitive prices, all while promoting a positive company image through efficient and friendly service. You will set department standards regarding customer service and overall profitability, taking charge of order coordination with kitchen, bakery, and delicatessen departments. The position also involves maintaining quality control over multiple catering events, managing department invoicing and bookkeeping procedures, and participating in continuing education and store events like bridal and holiday shows.

You will encourage employees to greet and engage customers, assist with product location and loading/unloading heavy items, and handle customer calls and issues with care and efficiency. The position requires physical capability for lifting up to 50 pounds and performing activities such as climbing, kneeling, and walking in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Job Requirements
- must be 18 or older
- high school diploma or equivalent
- over one year up to three years of related work experience
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- visual requirements including color vision and depth perception
- ability to solve practical problems and perform arithmetic calculations
- must be able to follow company policies and guidelines
- must complete pre-employment drug screen
