The role of Catering Coordinator at Hy-Vee is a vital position within the Catering Department, focused on overseeing key areas such as customer service standards, employee relations, sanitation, and the overall profitability of the catering operations. This non-exempt, hourly role typically requires working night and weekend shifts to meet the demands of the catering business effectively. Starting wages for the position range from $18.00 to $22.50 per hour, depending on experience. The Catering Coordinator coordinates the delivery of the freshest and highest quality products at competitive retail prices, ensuring customers receive excellent service from the moment they place their order until final delivery.

As a Catering Coordinator, you will be expected to set the tone for the department by fostering a friendly, professional, and efficient atmosphere. This includes maintaining cleanliness, adhering to sanitation standards, and ensuring a polished appearance for both employees and the department as a whole. A key part of your role involves direct interaction with customers to assess their needs, create detailed orders, and coordinate with various departments such as kitchen, bakery, and delicatessen to fulfill catering requests. You will serve as a primary point of contact for businesses and prospective customers, promoting Hy-Vee’s catering services and developing exclusive contracts to enhance business growth.

Additionally, you will be responsible for organizing store events like bridal and holiday shows, setting up promotional displays, and ensuring all catering equipment is properly maintained and functioning.

Physical demands include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and perform various activities such as climbing, kneeling, standing, and lifting, which are essential in managing the daily operations of the catering department. You’ll also need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to noise, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals. Job Requirements
