The role of a Cook at Aramark is a vital and exciting position that offers far more than just routine food preparation. Beyond basic cooking tasks, your role will include preparing ingredients by measuring, weighing, chopping, and trimming; safely handling utensils including knives; and operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers. You will use various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming to prepare foods ranging from meats to vegetables, making sure every dish is garnished and portioned accurately according to the guidelines. Additionally, you will maintain a clean and sanitary workspace, adhering strictly to Aramark’s food safety and sanitation standards to protect both customers and employees.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role
  • Knowledge of food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations
  • Ability to acquire food safety certification
  • Basic math and counting skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • Must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • Ensure security of company assets
