Job Description
Joby Aviation is a cutting-edge aerospace company revolutionizing urban transportation through the development of piloted air taxis. Since its inception in 2009, Joby has been committed to making safe, quiet, and environmentally-friendly aerial transportation a reality. The company is at the forefront of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft technology, currently in the final stages of FAA certification. Joby aims to launch its innovative air taxis not only in the United States but also in Dubai, addressing urban congestion by providing fast, reliable, and sustainable transport solutions. With an expanding manufacturing footprint and plans for commercial service launch, Joby Aviation is positioning itself as a pioneer in the future of mobility.
Joby Aviation is actively seeking a dedicated Cook to join their close-knit team. This role is essential within the company’s collaborative environment, where every team member contributes across various tasks to support the smooth operation of kitchen services. The Cook will be responsible for a wide range of culinary tasks including high-heat grilling, precise food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting multiple sites as needed. The position involves working within two specific shift rotations designed to accommodate operational needs: Rotation A includes Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off, while Rotation B spans Friday to Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday off. Daily working hours vary slightly between weekdays and weekends and start as early as 4:30 AM, reflecting the company’s commitment to providing timely, high-quality food service.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in diverse cooking techniques such as grilling, baking, and boiling, and possess skills in ingredient preparation, food safety compliance, and kitchen hygiene. Additional responsibilities include managing kitchen stations efficiently, ensuring proper labeling and storage of food items, and contributing to setup and teardown processes for remote dining areas at different locations. Additionally, the role requires safe transport of meals and supplies between sites using a company vehicle, emphasizing reliability and responsibility.
Joby values teamwork, strong communication, and flexibility in their staff. The Cook is expected to collaborate well under pressure, manage time efficiently, and maintain a positive attitude that aligns with the company’s core values of honesty, integrity, quality, and teamwork. Compensation for this role ranges from $23 to $30 per hour, supplemented by a comprehensive benefits package including restricted stock units, paid time off, healthcare coverage, 401(k) with company match, life insurance, and employee stock purchase plans. This role offers an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals who wish to contribute to an innovative and growing company that is redefining the future of urban mobility.
