Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write, follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong knowledge of safety and sanitation related to food service operations
- Minimum two years experience in food service industry desirable
- Food preparation background desirable
- Completion of sanitation and safety training through Michigan School Food Service Association and Department of Education within two years
- Ability to work under pressure and tolerate standing, bending, squatting, reaching and lifting
- Sufficient mobility to perform tasks within production and service time frames
- Reliable attendance and promptness
- Neatness and personal hygiene
- Ability to interact positively and resolve problems
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong knowledge of safety and sanitation in food service
- Experience in the food service industry preferred
- Food preparation background preferred
- Completion of state-wide sanitation and safety classes within two years
- Ability to work under pressure and tolerate physical demands

Job Duties
- Implements a standardized menu by preparing and/or cooking entree components in proper portion size and quantity
- Ensures sanitation and safety practices comply with State, County, and District requirements
- Assists with planning production schedules and thaw lists
- Ensures compliance with USDA, Michigan Department of Education and District regulations
- Communicates with the Food Service Manager regarding production kitchen staff concerns
- Promotes student and staff satisfaction by preparing and merchandising meals attractively
- Prepares other meal components and ala carte items for lunch service
- Expands and follows standardized recipes
- Operates commercial kitchen equipment
- Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and temperature maintenance
- Adheres to safety procedures, reports hazards, administers first aid
- Performs additional duties as assigned
