Job Description
Joby Aviation is an innovative aerospace company focused on revolutionizing urban transportation through electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Founded in 2009, Joby has been at the forefront of developing a piloted air taxi that offers a quiet, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional road travel across congested city streets. The company's vision is to enable people to spend more time with their loved ones and in meaningful places by dramatically reducing commute times. With its aircraft nearing FAA certification, Joby is on the cusp of launching commercial air taxi services in markets such as the United States and Dubai. This ambitious expansion plan includes ramping up manufacturing capabilities and ensuring all operations meet the highest safety and quality standards.
Joby Aviation is currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join their close-knit and collaborative team. The company values teamwork and a supportive environment, where all members contribute to various tasks to maintain a high standard of service and operational efficiency. The Cook will play a vital role in preparing and delivering meals that provide a great experience for Joby’s staff members across multiple sites. This role is not only about cooking but also about ensuring the kitchen environment remains pristine and that all procedures align with health and safety standards. The position requires agility in handling multiple cooking techniques, from high-heat grilling to precise preparation of ingredients, as well as flexibility to work in different locations. Specifically, the Cook will support team operations including the transportation and setup of meals at the Watsonville site using company vehicles.
This opportunity offers two unique shift rotations to accommodate varying schedules. Rotation A covers Wednesday through Sunday with Monday and Tuesday off, while Rotation B spans Friday through Tuesday with Wednesday and Thursday off. Daily work hours are generally early morning shifts, from 5:30 AM to mid-afternoon, with adjusted hours on Fridays and weekends to ensure comprehensive coverage and support at all times. Joby offers competitive compensation with a base pay target of $23-$30 per hour, supplemented by Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The total compensation package reflects the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience.
Beyond competitive pay, Joby provides a comprehensive benefits plan that includes paid time off, healthcare coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, an employee stock purchase plan, and various insurance options such as short-term and long-term disability, as well as life insurance. The company fosters an equitable workplace and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. The Cook role at Joby Aviation presents a unique chance to contribute to a cutting-edge company that is not only transforming urban mobility but also cultivating a positive, transparent, and quality-driven work culture where every team member’s contribution matters.
