Job Description

The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville (MOCA Jacksonville) is a premier cultural destination dedicated to showcasing innovative contemporary art and engaging diverse audiences through dynamic exhibitions and educational programs. As a prominent institution within Jacksonville's vibrant arts scene, MOCA Jacksonville fosters an inclusive environment that encourages creativity, learning, and community involvement. MOCA Jacksonville operates various departments including MOCA-OPS, which focuses on operational excellence for events and catering services throughout the museum. The institution prides itself on delivering memorable experiences that combine visual art with exceptional customer service and hospitality.

The role of Catering Bartender at MOCA Jacksonville is a vital component of the events and catering team. This position requires a skilled professional to ensure seamless and professional food and beverage service during various events hosted by the museum. With a strong emphasis on high standards of appearance, hospitality, and customer satisfaction, the Catering Bartender helps create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for guests. This hourly position offers pay starting at $25.00 per hour, with compensation scalable based on the size and scope of the event. Pay and tips are distributed on a regular bi-weekly payroll schedule.

Catering Bartenders are responsible for mixing drinks using a wide range of ingredients, maintaining an organized and clean bar area, and delivering excellent customer service while efficiently managing bar operations, including financial transactions. The position demands a keen ability to think quickly, exercise sound judgment, and monitor patrons for overconsumption to ensure responsible alcohol service. Additionally, the bartender must handle cash accurately, balance receipts, and verify legal age requirements for all customers. The role involves maintaining a well-stocked bar with necessary supplies, preparing fruit garnishes, completing alcohol inventories, and communicating restocking needs to the Venue Coordinator.

Beyond bartending, the Catering Bartender contributes to general event responsibilities such as maintaining a positive attitude, operating POS systems, addressing guest complaints, adhering to food and beverage safety standards, and assisting with event setup and takedown. Attention to detail, punctuality, integrity, and teamwork are essential attributes for success in this role. This position requires physical stamina to perform activities related to food and beverage service, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.

The opportunity to work at MOCA Jacksonville offers an engaging and dynamic work environment where your hospitality skills contribute directly to the success of art-related events, enhancing the visitor experience, and supporting the museum’s mission. If you are a reliable, customer-focused professional with bartending experience and a passion for providing exceptional service within a cultural institution, this role provides an exciting pathway to join a leading museum events team.
