Constellation is a premier business dining and catering service provider operating throughout the United States, known for delivering high-quality food experiences in corporate and retail environments. As a part of Elior North America, Constellation is committed to fostering connections through exceptional food and hospitality, ensuring that every meal contributes to a positive and memorable experience. Elior North America is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and the professional growth of its employees. They provide a supportive work environment where all employees can develop valuable skills and advance their careers within the company or its various brand segments.
The Catering Attendant role at Constellation, based in Washington, DC, is a full-time position within the Dining & Events segment. This role is vital to the smooth operation of catering events and daily pantry kitchen maintenance, ensuring that all food and beverage services exceed customer expectations. Catering attendants are responsible for a broad range of tasks, including setting up conference rooms for events, maintaining pantry stock, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the service areas and equipment. The position requires a proactive approach to service, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A typical workday involves replenishing supplies such as napkins, plates, utensils, and beverages like sodas, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The attendant manages coffee machines and water fountains, including routine cleaning and restocking to ensure seamless service throughout the day. For conference events, catering attendants prepare food and beverage stations, set up chafing dishes and platters, and arrange signage. During events, they monitor the buffet to refresh food and beverages, discreetly clear empty dishes, and maintain cleanliness.
Post-event responsibilities include breaking down food stations, removing leftovers, sanitizing surfaces, washing and organizing utensils, and restoring the room to standard setup. Additionally, the role involves food handling tasks such as reheating and replating items safely and attracting presentation of snacks like popcorn, chips, dips, and charcuterie boards with appropriate labeling for dietary needs.
Catering attendants also perform side work where they are assigned specific areas weekly in rotation. Duties in these areas may include restocking water and mints in reception and conference rooms, replenishing tissues and sanitizers, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organizing storage spaces, and managing linen closets. The role demands a dedicated, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills, who can provide outstanding customer service and work collaboratively within a team environment.
The compensation for this role is $25 per hour. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, voluntary insurance options, commuter benefits, retirement plans, paid leave, holiday pay, tuition reimbursement, and employee assistance programs. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with banquet or wait staff experience looking to advance in a dynamic and supportive catering environment.
