This position involves the transportation, setup, and breakdown of catering events from one of Promega’s three production kitchens to various designated locations on the campus. The Catering Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor while working efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Moreover, this role offers a unique opportunity to engage with diverse culinary traditions, as team members share their distinct cultural perspectives, enriching the variety of meal options available to staff and guests. The assistant also assists with basic food preparation, emphasizing fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients, many of which come directly from Promega’s onsite garden. Collaboration and teamwork are central to the role, as sharing culinary skills and learning from colleagues contribute to both personal development and the overall success of the department. Other critical responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and inventory management for all catering equipment, communicating effectively with the department head concerning customer feedback and operational needs, and adhering strictly to Promega’s high standards of food safety and quality. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to provide support in cafe positions and participate in corporate event services, sometimes requiring evening shifts. Commitment to inclusivity and emotional and social intelligence principles forms a foundational part of daily work, along with compliance with ethical and regulatory business practices. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or proven work experience that ensures you are ready to be successful in this role
- exemplary decision-making, problem-solving, and customer service skills
- strong reading and comprehension skills
- strong interpersonal skills in dealing with guests and team members effectively
- strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- minimum 3 years restaurant front of house and/or catering experience
- valid driver’s license and willingness to drive company vehicles for deliveries
- maintains appearance according to Promega and professional standards
Job Duties
- work with department head to coordinate the delivery, set up, and break down of a variety of catering services in multiple locations on campus
- responsible for maintaining cleanliness and inventory of all catering equipment
- communicate with department head about customer feedback, equipment needs, and other relevant information
- use time management skills to ensure prompt deliveries and break downs
- maintain constant quality control while handling and serving food according to Promega Culinary standards and comply with all local health department regulations
- provide coverage and work other positions within the cafes as needed
- work evenings to service corporate events as needed
- demonstrate inclusion through their own words and actions and be accountable for a safe workspace
- act with kindness, curiosity and respect for others
- embrace and be open to incorporating Promega’s 6 Emotional and Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work
- understand and comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the business
