Job Description

BTS is a large, well-established hospitality company headquartered in San Diego, California, boasting over 35 years of experience serving the corporate, social, and production industries. With a progressive and diverse approach, BTS has built a solid reputation by servicing large corporations, private clients, major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, Farmers Insurance Open, Rose Bowl, and the Olympics, as well as news broadcast companies including NBC. The company also caters to venues, concert tours, corporate marketing tours, and large-scale events around the globe. Its extensive industry presence highlights BTS as a leader in high-end event hospitality, showcasing an impressive commitment to excellence, client satisfaction, and innovative event solutions.

The position of Event Manager I at BTS represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced event professional to join a dynamic team focused on delivering exceptional service at a variety of high-profile events. The role reports directly to the Director of Operations and offers a salary range between $75,000 and $78,000 annually, inclusive of comprehensive benefits. Scheduled to work between 40-50 hours per week, this full-time role demands dedication to ensuring smooth event execution from start to finish.

As an Event Manager I, the successful candidate will take a hands-on leadership role in managing service employees and assisting in the development of junior Event Managers. Responsibilities include fielding client needs onsite and maintaining menu integrity while coordinating closely with the onsite kitchen team. Key operational tasks encompass overseeing timely service, event set-up, clean-up, loading, and overall management of catering areas at assigned events. The role requires proactive communication with the Sales Manager and Executive Chef before and after each event to ensure a seamless flow of information and service quality.

The position emphasizes warehouse general operations such as proper use of the HCMtogo app for accurate attendance tracking and time management, working alongside senior Event Managers to develop event pull lists, event documentation, and decor packages. Coordination with the culinary team to pull necessary equipment and assisting in process improvement initiatives for warehouse duties are vital aspects of the role. The Event Manager I acts as a conduit between the Event Sales Manager and warehouse operations, maintains inventory, ensures good driving records when operating company vehicles, and upholds safety protocols.

On the day of events, the Event Manager I is tasked with leading the load-in process, conducting walkthroughs with clients to verify event layouts, managing front-of-house staff with clear communication of event timelines and service roles, and collaborating closely with the culinary team to meet service expectations and handle any adjustments quickly. At larger events, the role includes mentoring Event Managers II and III and facilitating a learning environment.

Post-event duties cover load-out management, including inventory verification, delegation of load-out tasks, ensuring refrigeration protocols for food goods, final walkthroughs of event spaces, and returning vehicles to BTS headquarters for unloading and file completion. The Event Manager I also contributes to training and coordination efforts, partnering with Human Resources to design onboarding programs, curating fine dining and expo plans for local events, and maintaining high standards of service quality.

A flexible schedule supporting weekend and evening work, travel to local projects such as Farmers Open, Jewel Ball, and Miramar Airshow, and the physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, as well as tolerate long periods of standing and repetitive physical tasks, are essential to this role. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and commitment to safety and service excellence. This comprehensive role offers a challenging, rewarding career path within a foremost hospitality leader dedicated to world-class event delivery.
