Employment opportunities are available across multiple fields including technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership, and research grants among others. The Foundation also supports nearly 1,100 foundation and scholarship programs every year, contributing to various university initiatives including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. Additionally, it assists with grants and contracts administration, campus security efforts, and university publication support, contributing over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
Within this reputable establishment, the Kellogg West Conference Center and Hotel seeks Student Assistants for Events and Facilities. These roles are integral to the smooth and successful operation of diverse events hosted by the center. Student Assistants may be assigned to different positions within the operations, including but not limited to audiovisual support and facilities maintenance. This is a unique opportunity designed for students desiring to enhance their customer service skills, develop team collaboration abilities, and foster professional growth in a hands-on environment. Students taking up this role will work closely with leads, supervisors, clients, and staff to ensure the highest standards in event execution and client satisfaction.
The role is dynamic, involving preparation and support for a wide range of events such as conferences, weddings, and meetings. Student Assistants will manage setup tasks including arranging tables and chairs, operating and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment, and overseeing sound, lighting, and projection systems to ensure event success. Furthermore, these assistants contribute significantly to event logistics such as setup, teardown, clean-up, and maintaining safety and security compliance. In addition to event support, there are duties connected to facility upkeep, which encompass maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the entire property, including conference rooms, hotel rooms, offices, lobbies, restrooms, and other communal spaces. Students will assist in light maintenance duties like fixing minor leaks and replacing light bulbs, ensuring a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all guests and attendees.
The position requires a commitment to adhering to a regular work schedule with flexibility for evenings and weekends given the nature of event operations. It demands excellent communication and technical problem-solving abilities and the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced setting. Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises emphasizes an honorable, conscientious, and courteous conduct reflective of respect for diversity and inclusion. The job also offers an enriching environment for students to engage in student leadership development and become part of the university's community support system.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, the organization is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities, promoting an inclusive work environment. This role is an excellent fit for students enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona seeking practical experience and skill development in event management and facility operations as part of their academic pursuits and career preparation.
