Job Description
Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is a vital organization committed to supporting the quality of life for Marines, their families, and other members of the Marine Corps community. MCCS offers a wide range of programs and services designed to enhance the morale, welfare, and recreational opportunities for all its members. The organization operates through a collaborative environment that includes military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, and volunteers, all dedicated to ensuring that the MCCS runs efficiently and effectively to serve its community. MCCS is passionate about maintaining high standards of service and fostering a strong sense of support and camaraderie within the Marine Corps community.
This particular position is located at Camp Pendleton, California, and is specifically for a Catering & Event Coordinator NF2. The role is integral to the success of various events held at Camp Pendleton, particularly those hosted at the Marine Memorial Golf Course and Pub 1795. The Catering & Event Coordinator ensures seamless organization, planning, and execution of catering and special events ranging from leagues and tournaments to private functions. This position demands a high level of customer service, coordination abilities, and attention to detail to exceed the expectations of clients and patrons.
As a Catering & Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for meeting with clients to discuss event requirements, such as date, number of guests, and occasion, while also outlining the services offered including venue details, decorations, menu options, entertainment, and golf tournaments. You will prepare and maintain schedules to coordinate banquet arrangements, manage staffing needs, supplies, and equipment. This job also involves handling change orders efficiently, implementing strategies to maximize the use of function rooms and activities, and ensuring all operations comply with established catering and tournament procedures. You will oversee on-site execution of events, confirming that all elements align with the planned details and subsequently following up with client evaluations.
Furthermore, this position holds responsibility for managing funds generated from all sources, including collection, reconciliation, recording, safeguarding, and depositing according to applicable policies. Collaboration with the golf and food and beverage teams is essential to confirm event logistics, menu selections, timelines, and décor preferences. The Catering & Event Coordinator also monitors replenishment needs for materials and supplies, ensuring regulatory compliance including security, sanitation, health, environmental, and fire standards. This role requires a commitment to delivering world-class customer service and addressing customer concerns promptly with professionalism.
The role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks under pressure, and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management. While primarily a white-collar position, occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs may be necessary. The position is eligible for numerous employee benefits such as a 401(k) retirement plan with up to 5% employer match, medical and dental insurance, life insurance options, flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, short-term disability, and more. MCCS provides an inclusive workplace that values equal opportunity and reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. All applications are to be submitted online through the MCCS Careers website, with strict adherence to deadlines and documentation requirements to ensure complete and accurate consideration for employment.
