The Senior Category Manager, Direct Materials position based in Aurora, CO, plays a critical role in the company's supply chain and procurement function. This role is pivotal in designing and executing procurement strategies to secure supply, optimize category performance, and ensure compliance with stringent quality and regulatory standards. The Senior Category Manager will leverage deep expertise in direct materials and procurement processes to evaluate supply markets, select the best suppliers, and lead negotiations to drive value in quality, cost, and delivery.

In addition to strategic planning and supplier relationship management, the role requires strong leadership skills to guide a decentralized procurement team and motivate stakeholders across various functions. The incumbent will champion process optimization initiatives, ensuring efficiency and productivity gains by challenging the status quo. Oversight of documentation, contracts, and supplier performance evaluation is also a key responsibility to maintain high-quality standards and adherence to PMI's business practices.

This position demands a seasoned professional with over 12 years of experience in purchasing, planning, development, or quality assurance within a multinational environment. Exceptional financial analysis skills, negotiation expertise, project management capabilities, and a sound understanding of process engineering are essential to succeed. The role requires fluency in English and a university degree in Business Administration, Economics, or Engineering.

Job Duties

  • Design implement and monitor procurement strategies to ensure supply security meet financial and budget objectives and mid to long term category developments
  • Use knowledge of direct materials and procurement processes to evaluate supply markets and select the best suppliers
  • Lead negotiations and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best quality price and service
  • Oversee the selection and quality of materials ensure compliance with PMI and Regulatory standards
  • Design and implement programs to streamline products and processes to realize productivity by challenging status quo
  • Review and approve contracts and price lists to ensure accurate documentation and supplier performance measurement
  • Guide and motivate decentralized procurement team members and stakeholders to foster growth and development
