The Casual Patient & Family Concierge role at UPMC Presbyterian offers an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in starting a career in the healthcare field. This position is casual, requiring completion of 36 hours over a six-week period, with shifts that may be 8 or 12 hours long and scheduled during day or evening hours. It is designed for people who possess a caring attitude, exceptional customer service skills, and a passion for helping patients, families, and visitors navigate the hospital environment.

As a Patient & Family Concierge, you will be the welcoming face of the hospital, providing compassionate service and support to those who visit or receive care at UPMC Presbyterian. Your responsibilities will include greeting and escorting patients and visitors, offering directions, assisting with parking and patient belongings, and helping coordinate their destinations within the hospital. You will also assist in maintaining the cleanliness of patient rooms, public spaces, and equipment, while ensuring safety by reporting maintenance issues.

The role also encompasses helping with dietary services by delivering meals and ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Additionally, you will manage patient transportation logistics, supply deliveries, and equipment inventory to support smooth hospital operations. The position requires answering phones, responding promptly to call lights, and effectively assessing and addressing patient needs.

Infection control procedures are a critical component of this role, and you will be expected to follow these diligently to maintain a safe environment. The Patient & Family Concierge must approach all interactions with a positive and compassionate attitude, demonstrating a strong desire and drive to deliver an outstanding patient and family experience. The ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately is required, as well as the capacity to perform duties in accordance with all system-wide competencies and behaviors.
