Job Description
Catholic Charities of Central Minnesota is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to uplifting the lives of our neighbors through compassionate and impactful services. Rooted in the core values of Compassion, Hope, Accountability, Respect, Dignity, and Service, Catholic Charities operates with a mission to make a meaningful difference in the community by supporting individuals and families facing hardship. Supported by generous donors including individuals, foundations, businesses, and faith communities, Catholic Charities emphasizes a community-centered approach where the clients' well-being and dignity remain central to every initiative undertaken. The organization is deeply woven into the fabric of Central Minnesota, providing essential services that aim to alleviate the effects of poverty and crises, empowering clients to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
The Food Rescue Delivery Driver plays a vital role within Catholic Charities' Emergency Services Programs by ensuring the safe and efficient transportation, receipt, and distribution of donated and purchased goods. This position is physically active and hands-on, requiring a dependable individual capable of handling large quantities of food, clothing, and household items, often exceeding 25,000 pounds weekly. The driver follows assigned schedules to deliver goods to the Catholic Charities building on Roosevelt Road, as well as responding to unscheduled pickup requests promptly to fulfill the organization's mission of timely service delivery.
As the primary point of contact with many community donors, the Food Rescue Delivery Driver is essential in fostering strong, positive relationships and representing Catholic Charities with professionalism, gratitude, and a helpful attitude. This fosters ongoing community support which is critical for a nonprofit organization. Beyond transportation duties, the driver also assists with building and vehicle maintenance, operating various equipment such as large trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, cardboard balers, snow blowers, and floor scrubbers to support overall program efficiency and safety. This position often functions as a substitute for the regular Food Rescue Delivery Driver, demanding flexibility and a readiness to step in as needed.
This role requires a high level of responsibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and physical stamina to meet the demands of daily tasks effectively. By ensuring that all food products are handled safely and according to proper food safety codes and standards, the Food Rescue Delivery Driver helps uphold the health and well-being of the clients served. Documentation is another critical element of this role, requiring accurate receipts and records for all incoming donations to maintain transparency and accountability. This position’s impact is far-reaching, directly contributing to the mission of Catholic Charities by making sure that crucial resources reach individuals and families in need quickly and safely. The Food Rescue Delivery Driver position represents a meaningful career opportunity for individuals passionate about community service and hands-on work in a rewarding nonprofit environment.
