The CHEF'STORE Sales Associate plays a vital role in enhancing the customer experience by embodying superior customer service standards that align with US Foods' strategic goals. The position involves multifaceted responsibilities, including cashier duties, stocking merchandise, and ensuring customer courtesy throughout the store. Sales Associates are expected to be flexible and capable of working across different store departments such as Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment, depending on the business needs. This role requires regular physical activity including frequent lifting of freight between 40 and 80 pounds, managing inventory, rotating products following FIFO principles, and maintaining a visually appealing and organized store environment.
The Sales Associate must adeptly handle point-of-sale transactions, including using scanning equipment and scale weighing when necessary, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all sales processes. Customer interaction is paramount, requiring the associate to establish and nurture positive relationships, provide product assistance, and uphold store policies on safety and cleanliness. The position also encompasses participation in store opening and closing responsibilities, special events like vendor fairs, and inventory counts. Candidates must be adaptable, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks independently or within a team. The work environment is a retail setting open to the public, which can include exposure to various temperature ranges and occasional outdoor weather conditions. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience
- minimum six to twelve months retail cashier or stocking experience
- preferred one year retail selling or customer service experience
- ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds frequently
- ability to work weekends and holidays
- proficiency in cash handling and basic computer skills
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- willingness to follow safety policies and maintain a clean working environment
Job Qualifications
- Minimum six to twelve months of retail cashier or stocking experience, preferred one year of retail selling or customer service experience, strong desire and ability to provide exceptional customer service, ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team, basic mathematical aptitude and logical thinking skills, proficiency in basic computer skills and cash handling, ability to adapt to flexible schedules including holidays and weekends, high school diploma or equivalent work experience
Job Duties
- Perform sales and cash functions at the point of sale, assist customers during checkout, stock and rotate merchandise ensuring proper labeling and quality, maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the store, assist in receiving and organizing inventory shipments, participate in store opening and closing procedures, support special store events such as vendor fairs and inventory counts
