The cashier role at Hayward Lumber's Salinas, CA location is a full-time, hourly position with a pay range of $18 to $20 per hour reporting directly to the Store Manager. This role is fundamental to ensuring a seamless and positive customer experience at the retail counter sales. The primary responsibility involves accurately processing all sales transactions whether by cash, credit, or other payment methods and issuing receipts efficiently. Beyond transactions, the cashier serves as an ambassador for the company by building and maintaining positive customer relationships through excellent service. They assist customers by answering product-related questions, guiding them towards suitable products, and recommending effective solutions tailored to customer needs. This role also requires handling service concerns professionally, supporting team members, and maintaining an organized and clean sales floor. Cashiers are expected to manage the cash drawer with accuracy, enter sales orders into the system, and actively participate in continual learning through company training programs to deepen their product and industry knowledge.
