The Cashier/Host position at Ugly Dumpling plays a critical role as the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for their entire dining experience. Available as both a full-time and part-time role, this position reports directly to the Manager or Assistant General Manager and requires working 30-40 hours per week, with both exempt and nonexempt options. The role combines welcoming guests warmly upon arrival with efficiently managing all transactional responsibilities, ensuring every aspect of the guest’s visit runs smoothly. A person in this dual function must be friendly, organized, and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service, able to juggle multiple tasks while maintaining a welcoming demeanor.

This role is fundamental not only in greeting and seating guests but also in handling monetary transactions accurately using the POS system and managing payments securely. Additionally, the Cashier/Host assists guests with menu inquiries and takeout orders, strives to maximize restaurant efficiency by effectively managing seating rotations and waitlists, and often takes on opening and closing duties such as cleaning and restocking supplies. It is a dynamic position that requires excellent communication skills, patience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and capable of performing physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting, and repetitive movements.
