Job Description

The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has a rich history that dates back many centuries, originating as a community that lived together through farming, hunting, and fishing to sustain their way of life. Over the years, they have evolved from these traditional roots into a thriving modern tribe that manages and governs its own Reservation. Today, the Sycuan Tribe operates a renowned Casino and Golf Resort along with multiple business ventures throughout the San Diego region. This dynamic organization balances strong cultural heritage with progressive business practices, making it a unique and vibrant place to work.

Sycuan's commitment to community remains a core value that has persisted throughout its development. More than just a business, Sycuan represents a community united by shared goals and mutual support. Those who join the Sycuan team become part of this family, whether employed at the cutting-edge Casino, the scenic Resort, or the Tribal Government division. Employees are supported in their professional growth and encouraged to contribute to the mission of delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The specific role being offered is a Coffee Barista position, focused on preparing specialty coffee, beverages, and food items within Sycuan’s hospitality environment. This hourly position plays a vital role in crafting memorable guest interactions by delivering quality service, maintaining high standards of sanitation, and ensuring operations run smoothly at the coffee bar. The Barista is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and efficient service by taking guest orders promptly and accurately, preparing drinks and food products based on established recipes, and managing payments professionally and accurately.

The job entails a variety of tasks such as organizing and maintaining a clean and safe workstation, replenishing food and beverage supplies, and adhering to proper food handling procedures. The role demands attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a busy, fast-paced environment. Baristas must also handle cash transactions correctly, balance their registers at the end of each shift, and report any discrepancies to management.

Employees working as Coffee Baristas at Sycuan benefit from a supportive workplace culture deeply rooted in community and teamwork. This position is ideal for those interested in working in the food and beverage service industry, particularly in a hospitality setting with opportunities to develop their skills and engage with a diverse guest base. The job offers a sense of pride and accomplishment in representing a respected tribal business and contributing to the tribe’s ongoing success.
