This role is part of the Customer Service & E-Commerce team and plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless shopping experience for customers. As a Customer Service Associate and Cashier, you will assist customers during the check-out process, handle cash register functions with accuracy and efficiency, and support the customer service desk. The position involves maintaining clean and attractive service areas, ensuring all tasks are performed in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures, and embracing the Whole Foods Market customer service vision. Beyond transactional duties, you will engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, manage the sales of age-restricted products adhering to government regulations, and participate actively in company-wide programs and initiatives. Job Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • able to work in wet and cold environments
  • flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Checks out customer groceries efficiently and accurately
  • upholds government regulations concerning sale of alcoholic beverages and taxation
  • follows proper check, ATM, and credit procedures
  • uses proper tares procedures when ringing up scalable items
  • cleans and stocks front end areas, including own register
  • follows all cash handling procedures meeting and exceeding regional cashier variance policy
  • assists supervisor in controlling customer flow and lines
  • provides excellent customer service and addresses needs promptly
  • maximizes sales potential through proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
  • performs other duties as assigned by store or company leadership
