Job Description

Hermes is a renowned luxury brand established in 1837, known for its artisan business model based on humanist values, craftsmanship, and a commitment to excellence. As an independent, family-owned company, Hermes prides itself on its traditions of creativity and innovation, operating with over 310 stores worldwide and employing more than 15,000 people, including over 6,000 skilled artisans dedicated to producing highly crafted, beautiful objects meant to last. The company remains deeply committed to sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and preserving natural resources, aligning its business practices with values of authenticity, responsibility, and respect for time.

The Hermes South Coast Plaza Boutique, part of the Pacific West Region and opened in 1997, offers a unique luxury retail environment focused on delivering extraordinary service to clients. This boutique operates with an emphasis on client satisfaction, collaborative teamwork, and maintaining the high standards associated with the Hermes brand. Reporting to the Operations Director, the boutique’s team works closely to support a seamless and memorable client experience in a fast-paced luxury retail setting.

The role of the Cashier within the Hermes South Coast Plaza Boutique is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of front-of-house activities. This position involves clerical and transactional responsibilities, requiring accuracy in processing sales, receipts, repairs, and other payment methods while maintaining compliance with Hermes’ standards. The Cashier facilitates the final touchpoint in the customer journey by providing high levels of service, such as greeting customers promptly, assisting with product packaging, and supporting aftersales services. The role demands excellent numerical and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and a commitment to detail and integrity in handling payments.

This role is hourly paid, with a wage range between $25.00 and $27.00 depending on location, job specifics, and experience. Candidates with at least one year of retail experience, preferably in luxury environments, strong knowledge of point-of-sale technology, and cash handling expertise will likely excel in this role. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the store team, assisting sales personnel and contributing to an efficient, customer-oriented retail operation. This is a non-supervisory position with no budget or decision-making responsibilities.

Hermes offers a comprehensive benefits package to its employees, including commission and bonus incentives based on sales performance, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability benefits, paid time off (including holidays, wellbeing days, and sick leave), paid parental leave and transition time, retirement plans with company matching and profit sharing, and various voluntary benefits such as flexible spending accounts and fitness reimbursement. Employees also enjoy product discounts and employee assistance programs with resources like access to mental health and family support services.

At Hermes, the culture is built on inclusion, diversity, and fairness, fostering authentic and equitable work environments where employees can thrive personally and professionally. The company is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and promotes reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities. The Cashier role reflects Hermes' values of exceptional service, attention to detail, and commitment to a positive, memorable customer experience in the luxury retail sector.
