The role of Cashier, also referred to internally as a Front End Team Member, is vital to maintaining the exceptional customer experience that Total Wine & More upholds. As a Cashier, you serve as the frontline ambassador for the brand, ensuring each customer interaction is efficient, friendly, and informative. This position generally offers both part-time and full-time employment options and features an hourly pay range from $17.70 to $24.78, varying by location and experience. Cashiers are responsible for processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently, managing payments including verifying identification for age-restricted products, and promoting the loyalty program to enhance customer engagement. Beyond transactional duties, Cashiers provide a personalized shopping experience by greeting customers warmly, answering product inquiries, and building lasting customer relationships.

The role also offers opportunities to cross-train in areas such as sales associate and merchandiser or stock associate duties, broadening employee skillsets within the store. Training programs focused on wine, spirits, and beer knowledge are integral to this role, equipping employees with the expertise needed to assist customers effectively. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current promotions, advertisements, and loyalty incentives is equally important to maximize customer benefits and sales opportunities. Additionally, Cashiers uphold the store's standards for cleanliness and safety, ensuring a secure environment for all. Compliance with alcohol sales laws is strictly enforced to maintain a responsible retail operation. Seasonal positions are available for short term employment of up to six months, with the possibility to transition into non-seasonal roles depending on performance and business needs.

Physical requirements include being 21 years of age or older, the ability to stand and move for extended periods, lifting and handling cases and pallets, and exposure to various weather conditions as needed. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to walk bend down repeatedly and be on feet for 8-10 hours a day
  • Ability to safely lift load and handle cases and pallets
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift 50 lbs overhead and repeatedly
  • May be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Passion for best-in-class customer service and team player mindset
  • 1-3 years of work experience with 1 or more years in a retail setting preferred
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Job Duties

  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently including identification verification payment handling answering inquiries promoting loyalty program and bagging product
  • Deliver exceptional service and create personalized experiences by greeting customers engaging to build relationships and informing about products and services
  • Participate in wine spirits and beer training to build product knowledge
  • Maintain knowledge of advertisements promotions and loyalty programs
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the store
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment
  • Complete cross-functional responsibilities and other duties as assigned
