Job Description
Lowe's Companies, Inc. is a leading Fortune 100 home improvement company known for its expansive network of over 1,750 stores, 540 branches, and 120 distribution centers across the United States. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's plays a significant role in supporting communities by focusing on programs that promote safe and affordable housing, community space improvements, the development of skilled trade professionals, and providing disaster relief assistance where necessary. Employing approximately 300,000 associates, Lowe's strives to maintain its reputation as a trusted retailer and community partner, evidenced by its impressive fiscal 2025 sales of over $86 billion. Lowe's commits to equality and inclusivity, ensuring a diverse workforce through fair employment practices regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics.
This role as a Lowe's cashier signifies a frontline position that is integral to the customer experience within the stores. Cashiers are responsible for delivering friendly and professional services during the checkout process, ensuring every customer leaves satisfied with their visit. Beyond managing cash registers and processing payments, cashiers assist customers throughout the store, answer questions, and help maintain a clean and safe work environment. This role is ideal for those who thrive in fast-paced settings and enjoy solving problems while engaging with customers. The position may also involve additional duties such as stocking shelves or supporting other departments when necessary.
Lowe's values its associates and offers a comprehensive range of benefits designed to promote personal and professional growth. Employees at Lowe's have access to competitive pay, flexible schedules, multiple health insurance options, tuition assistance programs, and retirement plans, including a company-matched 401(k) and an optional Employee Stock Purchase Program. Other perks include an associate discount of 10%, opportunities to develop trade skills through specialized programs, and various wellness initiatives. Employees gain opportunities to learn, grow, and advance within the company, whether seeking part-time work or a long-term career path.
The starting pay for this cashier position ranges from $16.90 to $17.85 per hour, subject to factors such as location, experience, education, and specific role requirements. Lowe's is committed to accommodating employees, providing an inclusive environment and encouraging applications from bilingual individuals, veterans, and military talents. While the role mainly involves standing or sitting for extended periods, it includes physical tasks like lifting up to 10 pounds unassisted or more with accommodation. Cashiers may occasionally travel for meetings, training sessions, or to assist other store locations, but regular travel is not required.
Lowe's focuses on creating a safe and comfortable work environment. Associates must adhere to lifting guidelines, with team lifts used for heavier items and powered equipment operated with proper training. Working conditions may involve exposure to various weather elements, depending on store location, as well as intermittent noise and physical activity. Whether you are an experienced retail professional or new to customer service, the cashier role at Lowe's provides an engaging and rewarding opportunity to be part of a vibrant team dedicated to excellent service and community impact.
