Job Description
Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is a leading FORTUNE 100 home improvement retailer that proudly serves millions of customers across the United States. With over 1,700 stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers, Lowe's stands as a trusted brand in the home improvement sector, generating fiscal year 2024 sales surpassing $83 billion. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's employs approximately 300,000 associates, all dedicated to enhancing the customer experience and supporting their communities. The company emphasizes its commitment to social responsibility through programs designed to create safe and affordable housing, improve community spaces, train the next generation of skilled trade experts, and provide disaster relief efforts where needed.
As a Lowe's cashier, you will play a vital role in ensuring that each customer leaves the store satisfied and with a positive experience. This is a key frontline position where you will be directly engaging with customers, helping them complete their purchases efficiently while ensuring accuracy and friendliness throughout the checkout process. Your role not only involves operating the cash register and handling payments and exchanges but also assisting customers with questions, managing the cleanliness and safety of your workstation, and sometimes lending support to other departments such as stocking or cart management.
Lowe's offers flexible scheduling options that cater to those seeking part-time positions or looking to build a long-term career with growth opportunities. Moreover, associates enjoy several benefits including multiple health insurance plans, a tuition assistance program to support educational goals, a company-matching 401(k) retirement plan, an Employee Stock Purchase Program, a 10% associate discount, and specialized skill development programs like the Track to the Trades initiative aimed at building trade expertise.
The work environment at Lowe's varies by location and may expose you to both indoor and outdoor conditions, including possible extremes of temperature and weather. While much of your time will be spent standing or sitting at the register, physical capability to lift items up to 10 pounds unassisted and 15 pounds with assistance is required, with guidelines in place for safe lifting and the use of powered equipment. While this position does not require regular travel, occasional trips may be necessary for meetings, training sessions, or assisting at other store locations.
This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy helping customers solve their problems and find solutions. Experience in retail or customer service is beneficial, and bilingual skills are highly encouraged as Lowe's values diversity and inclusion in its workforce. Lowe's is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a workplace free of discrimination and supporting veterans, military personnel, and bilingual candidates.
