Job Description
Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is a leading FORTUNE 100 home improvement company recognized for its vast network of over 1,700 stores, 530 branches, and 130 distribution centers across North America. Headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina, Lowe's employs approximately 300,000 associates and serves around 16 million customer transactions every week. The company reported total fiscal sales exceeding $86 billion in 2025, underscoring its significant presence and impact within the home improvement industry. Lowe's commitment extends beyond retail, actively supporting communities through initiatives focused on creating safe, affordable housing, enhancing community spaces, developing skilled trade expertise among the next generation, and providing disaster relief assistance where needed. This mission-driven focus makes Lowe's not just a retailer but a pivotal community partner aiming to improve lives and neighborhoods. For more information, please visit Lowes.com.
As a Lowe's cashier, you play a critical role in ensuring every customer leaves the store satisfied and with a positive interaction. Your primary responsibility is to deliver a fast, friendly, and efficient checkout experience, reflecting Lowe's reputation for excellent customer service. This role offers flexibility for those seeking part-time work or a longer-term career opportunity, supported by competitive pay and a range of benefits designed to help you thrive both personally and professionally.
In this position, you will manage the cash register, handle payments, and process exchanges with accuracy and professionalism. Your role involves proactively assisting customers, especially in the self-checkout area, answering their questions, and offering support to ensure they get the best value for their purchases. Additionally, you may be asked to help with other store activities such as stocking shelves or managing carts, providing a dynamic work environment that goes beyond typical cashier duties.
Lowe's invests significantly in associate well-being, offering multiple top-tier health insurance options, tuition assistance programs to foster education, a company-matching 401(k) plan, and an Employee Stock Purchase Program to help build your financial future. Associates also enjoy a 10% discount on purchases and opportunities to learn trade skills through the Track to the Trades program. This commitment to development and support creates an environment where employees can grow their careers while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
The role demands the ability to perform basic math functions, stand or sit for extended periods, and occasionally lift loads up to 15 pounds, with accommodations available as needed. While prior retail or customer service experience is preferred, Lowe's welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, including bilingual individuals, veterans, and military talent, in line with its dedication to diversity and inclusion.
Working conditions vary by location and may include exposure to different weather elements and noise levels. Associates must follow safety guidelines for lifting and use powered equipment appropriately when required. Although this position does not require regular travel, occasional trips to meetings or training sessions may be necessary.
Joining Lowe's as a cashier means becoming part of a company that values its people, embraces diversity, and is committed to community impact and personal growth. If you enjoy helping customers in a fast-paced, evolving environment and want to be part of a supportive team, this opportunity offers a rewarding career path with significant benefits and development potential.
