The company places a strong emphasis on inclusivity and strives to meet customers' everyday needs by offering a broad range of products, including fashion, apparel, home goods, beauty, and jewelry. These products come from both national and private brands, complemented by personal services such as salon, portrait, and optical offerings. JCPenney's commitment to connecting with customers is demonstrated through engaging shopping experiences and active community involvement. Employing approximately 50,000 associates worldwide, the company provides opportunities to work in a diverse and inclusive environment focused on delivering excellent customer service and driving sales.
The role of Cashier at JCPenney is crucial in delivering an outstanding customer experience by managing the checkout standards and supporting general store operations. This position is accountable for greeting and assisting customers, effectively handling sales transactions, returns, and re-ticketing processes while upholding operational standards, safety, and shrinkage controls. Cashiers play an active role in promoting company programs such as credit, rewards, gift cards, and Findmore campaigns that drive customer engagement and sales growth. Utilizing technology tools like the Mobile Warrior device, Cashiers facilitate efficient line management and contribute to store productivity. Additionally, Cashiers assist with omnichannel initiatives, recovery, put backs, and fitting room maintenance to ensure the store environment remains organized and inviting. The role demands a strong focus on achieving company performance standards, including the company’s iCAP program metrics, sales targets, profit goals, and attendance.

They embody the company’s WORTH behaviors and cultivate positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships with customers and team members. The ability to adapt quickly to changing situations with energy and a positive attitude is key, as is the willingness to proactively improve the customer experience with confidence and urgency. Eligible associates benefit from a comprehensive package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and 401(k) retirement savings plans with company match.
