The role of Cage Lead at Red Mile involves substantial responsibility, including direct supervision of all cage and cash operations employees and the safeguarding of company funds. The Cage Lead is integral to ensuring efficient credit and check cashing services for patrons while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations such as those set forth by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. This leadership position requires managing team operations including interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling staff. The Cage Lead is also accountable for investigating variances, setting up cashier banks, and addressing guest and employee concerns promptly and effectively. The role entails detailed documentation, upholding operational policies and procedures, and coordinating with other supervisors and management teams. Additionally, the Cage Lead ensures compliance with Title 31 regulations, monitors cash levels across all cage locations, and oversees the maintenance of equipment used within the cage.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of wagering data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Willingness to perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cash handling experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Minimum one year bank teller or cage experience
- Strong mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions
- Strong communication skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Job Duties
- Supervise cage and cash operations employees
- Ensure the security of company funds
- Set up credit and check cashing accounts for patrons
- Issue cashier banks and investigate variances
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
- Interview, hire, and train employees
- Plan, assign, and direct work
- Address complaints and resolve guest and employee issues
- Order supplies and maintain logs
- Schedule employees as needed
- Assist in accuracy of jackpot payouts and related deposits and withdrawals
- Monitor cash levels in all cage locations
- Supervise large payouts
- Recommend changes to improve efficiencies
- Document attendance and variances
- Prepare corrective action documentation
- Complete daily cash accountability logs
- Provide performance feedback and employee disciplinary actions
- Prepare cashier transfers and complete accurate paperwork
- Ensure compliance with Title 31 regulations
- Ensure preventative maintenance on cage equipment
- Maintain confidentiality of wagering operations data
- Report incidents and disputes to management
