The Lead Cashier role at Aramark is a pivotal position within our food service outlets, designed to create memorable experiences for guests through exceptional customer service and efficient operational management. As the Lead Cashier, you will be responsible for training and supporting cashier staff, maintaining front-of-house operations, processing transactions accurately and securely, overseeing inventory management, and ensuring that all duties are executed with a guest-focused attitude. This supervisory role demands excellent interpersonal skills, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to managing daily activities. You'll play a central role in enhancing the customer journey by greeting guests, anticipating their needs, and delivering timely and courteous assistance.

In addition to managing cash transactions and handling point-of-sale systems, the Lead Cashier takes charge of scheduling and delegating tasks to team members to maintain smooth operational flow. You will ensure adherence to company cash handling policies and procedures, open and close the unit or station based on operating hours, and maintain inventory levels by replenishing stock as necessary. Cleanliness and sanitation of the location during operating hours and after service are also within your responsibilities, demonstrating commitment to health and safety standards.

This role requires a combination of strong leadership skills, cash handling expertise, math proficiency, and a customer service mindset. The Lead Cashier must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, guide team members with training and support, and contribute positively to the overall operational success of the outlet. Physical demands may include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. The position may require uniform wearing and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage in compliance with workplace safety policies.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to adhere to dress code and workplace policies
  • Completion of food handling and alcohol service training
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and standing for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Requires previous customer service experience
  • Requires previous cash handling experience
  • Requires basic math and counting skills
  • Experience in a supervisory or related role preferred
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Able to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must follow the required dress code as assigned and in line with workplace policies
  • Complete Food Handling training and alcohol service training as required

Job Duties

  • Accurately operate a register/pos and handle cash and credit card transactions
  • Greet and assist customers while delivering excellent customer service and anticipating their needs
  • Schedule and delegate work assignments to team and coordinate the completion of tasks
  • Train and guide staff members in customer services, cash handling, product knowledge and other application processes and procedures
  • Make change for all cashiers and verify bag deposits
  • Count, organize and balance cash drawer, fill out the cashier slip and make deposits
  • Adhere to Aramark's cash handling policies and procedures
  • Follow opening and closing procedures of unit or station based on operating hours
  • Ensure product is stocked to appropriate levels and replenishes and arranges items as needed to maintain location inventory
  • Assist in clean up and location sanitation during operating hours and at the end of service
