The available position is for a full-time Cashier with an evening shift starting at noon (12:00 pm) and ending at 8:30 pm, including work every other weekend and some holidays, with compensation starting at $18.00 per hour, dependent on experience. The Food Service Worker - Cashier plays a pivotal role in providing excellent customer service within the hospital’s food service operations. This role is critical in ensuring smooth and efficient cashier functions while supporting food preparation and service duties. Responsibilities include managing sales transactions accurately, handling cash and various payment methods, and maintaining customer satisfaction through attentive and courteous service.

This position demands high attention to food safety standards and operational efficiency. The Food Service Worker in this role assists with food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring ingredients, transferring food items between stations while following proper safety guidelines, and ensuring that food storage practices meet health regulations. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the work environment, equipment, and utensils. Collaboration with team members to sustain service standards and inventory control is essential.

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers following established service procedures
  • handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating issues to supervisors as needed
  • process accurate sales transactions using a cash register, ensuring all purchases are properly recorded
  • manage cash, change funds, and receipts according to company policies and overage/shortage standards
  • accept various forms of payment, issue receipts, and follow procedures for refunds and adjustments
  • monitor customer purchases to ensure proper portion control and adherence to pricing standards
  • assist with food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring ingredients
  • transport food items and supplies safely between workstations, maintaining proper handling procedures
  • store food items correctly by following labeling, dating, and rotation guidelines to ensure freshness and safety
  • clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils according to health and safety standards
  • distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed to support food service operations
  • follow approved recipes and production standards to maintain food quality, temperature, and portion consistency
  • collaborate with team members to uphold service standards and ensure accurate inventory and cash control
  • comply with all sanitation, safety, and food handling regulations
  • perform other duties as assigned to support overall food service operations
