The company embraces a broad portfolio that includes fashion, apparel, home goods, beauty products, and jewelry sourced from both national and private brands. Beyond merchandise, JCPenney enriches the customer experience with personalized services such as salon, portrait, and optical options. With a global workforce of approximately 50,000 associates, JCPenney operates more than 650 stores across the United States and Puerto Rico, while also maintaining a strong online presence through jcp.com to meet customers wherever and however they prefer to shop.

This specific role of a Cashier at JCPenney plays a vital part in ensuring a positive customer service and sales experience. The position is responsible for maintaining checkout standards, assisting with general store operations including omnichannel initiatives, recovery tasks, inventory support, and supporting safety and shrink reduction efforts. The Cashier serves as the frontline representative of the company at all points of sale, making first impressions and helping to build lasting customer relationships.

As a Cashier, you will greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and a helpful attitude, showcasing WORTH behaviors and participating actively in all customer engagement activities. You will be in charge of completing checkout processes including handling returns and re-ticketing, maintaining signing and merchandising standards at checkout areas, and managing impulse fixtures and replenishment tasks. Using technology such as the Mobile Warrior device, you'll aid in line management, ensuring a smooth checkout experience for every customer.

Further responsibilities include supporting the store’s omnichannel initiatives, participating in recovery and put-back activities, and maintaining fitting rooms. The role also requires adherence to established performance standards relating to sales, customer service, productivity, safety, and company shrink goals. JCPenney values associates who are proactive, take accountability, and consistently drive results while demonstrating a positive, inclusive, and respectful approach both with customers and team members.

Employment type for this position is hourly, with a pay range of $17.00 to $21.25 per hour, reflective of experience and performance. Eligible associates benefit from a comprehensive package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, term life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and a 401(k) plan with company match, along with an associate discount on merchandise.

Working at JCPenney offers more than just a job; it provides an opportunity to be part of a historic brand that continues to innovate and connect with millions of customers.
