The role of Cashier at JCPenney is critical in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth sales experience at checkout. As a Cashier, individuals are responsible for maintaining checkout standards, assisting with general store operations including omnichannel efforts, recovery, and inventory processes. The position requires upholding performance standards related to shrink and safety, as well as meeting key performance indicators set by the company. This role offers a dynamic work environment where employees engage directly with customers, assist with various retail programs like credit and rewards, and promote sales-driving initiatives such as Findmore. The Cashier uses mobile Point of Sale devices to efficiently manage checkout lines and supports merchandising and stocking activities at checkout areas. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer and point of sale system knowledge
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift moderate weights

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Greet and assist customers while providing excellent customer service
- Demonstrate WORTH behaviors consistently
- Partner with team members for additional support

- Resolve customer problems and assist with credit, rewards and gift card programs
- Promote Findmore and other sales-driving programs
- Complete checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing
- Assist with signing and merchandising standards at checkouts
- Stock and merchandise impulse fixtures and replenishment
- Call for assistance when additional help is needed in checkout
- Utilize Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior device to support line management
- Assist with omnichannel efforts and general store operations
- Participate in recovery, put backs and fitting room maintenance
- Support annual inventory processes
- Support company shrink and safety initiatives
- Meet established performance standards consistently
