The role of a Cashier at JCPenney is vital to delivering excellent customer service and contributing positively to the overall sales experience. Cashiers are primarily responsible for maintaining checkout standards, assisting with general store operations including Omnichannel activities, recovery, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with performance standards relating to shrink and safety. Beyond the direct customer-facing tasks, Cashiers also support general store responsibilities including Omnichannel efforts like order pickup or fulfillment, recovery tasks such as tidying and restocking, and participating in annual inventory counts. Performance standards are critical in this position, with a clear focus on achieving goals related to company shrink reduction, safety, sales, productivity, and attendance. Cashiers are expected to demonstrate problem-solving skills, take smart decisions that positively impact sales and customer satisfaction, execute tasks efficiently, and inspire not only themselves but also their colleagues to perform strongly. Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as a cashier or in retail preferred
  • Ability to handle customer transactions accurately

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers while providing excellent customer service

  • Complete checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing

  • Stock and merchandise impulse fixtures and replenishment
  • Call for assistance when needed in checkout
  • Utilize Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior device to support line management
  • Assist with Omnichannel efforts
  • Participate in recovery, put backs and fitting room maintenance
  • Participate in annual inventory processes
  • Support company shrink and safety initiatives
  • Meet established performance standards consistently
