This position is within Costco’s warehouse environment, specifically focused on the role of a Front-End Loader. The role is primarily involved in supporting the front-end operations by packing member orders, assisting cashiers, and ensuring that the checkout process flows smoothly and efficiently. The Front-End Loader position is integral to maintaining high levels of member service, cleanliness, and safety at the retail location. This role is generally entry-level and involves physical activity such as lifting, moving carts, and packing orders. It requires attentiveness to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform duties efficiently under a fast-paced retail environment.

The Front-End Loader is responsible for greeting members, assisting them during checkout by packing their purchases according to member preferences, and ensuring all items are scanned and accounted for. They also play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness of the register area and parking lot, retrieving and organizing carts, and supporting other warehouse departments when necessary. Job Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous retail or warehouse experience is a plus
Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with team members and customers
Strong attention to detail
Basic math skills
Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical work
Ability to follow safety and security procedures
Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

Greets members, helps members load order onto conveyor belt, determines member packing preferences, answers questions, relates information on special promotions, thanks members, assists cashier by counting items left in cart, checking under items and positioning them for scanning
Packs member orders into boxes and loads to a separate cart or flatbed
Checks packaging for tampering
Follows all safety and security procedures
Follows proper departmental procedures for performance of duties
Assists members loading orders into the car when appropriate
Runs for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving smoothly
Maintains cleanliness of register area and general front end area
Cleans spills and trip hazards immediately
Retrieves carts and flatbeds from the parking area using a rope with clasping hook, pushing no more than 10 carts together
Keeps the lot area free of debris and sweeps in front of the building
Performs set up and closing duties for the department, such as returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and cleaning area
Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials
Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
Assists with department duties as necessary
Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
