The Cashier/Checker role at Kroger is integral to delivering outstanding customer service by ensuring a smooth, efficient, and accurate checkout experience. Job Requirements

  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math including counting, addition, and subtraction
  • Prior experience as a bagger or courtesy clerk preferred
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons according to company policy
  • Adhere to cash shortage and overage limits and control loss effectively
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items such as alcohol, tobacco and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
