This role as a Cashier/Checker is essential to Kroger's mission of delivering outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience by engaging warmly with shoppers, processing transactions accurately and efficiently, and maintaining a safe, clean environment that encourages repeat visits. The position demands a strong focus on customer interaction, handling various payment methods including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and program-specific tenders such as SNAP EBT and WIC. Moreover, adherence to company policies, food safety regulations, and legal guidelines is critical to safeguarding both customers and the business. The Cashier/Checker must also demonstrate integrity in managing cash shortages or overages and assist in controlling loss prevention. Job Duties

  • Greet, engage and assist customers actively
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane
  • Handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons according to company policy
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages and work honestly to control loss
  • Understand and follow guidelines on restricted sale items including alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or accidents to store management
  • Inspect equipment and notify management of any maintenance needs
  • Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions
  • Follow all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
