The employee fills a non-managerial role, requiring hands-on engagement in store operations, sales transactions, inventory stocking, and maintenance of safety and hygiene standards for the store. This role requires the employee to engage in accurate handling of payment transactions via POS systems, adherence to company policies related to the sale of regulated items such as alcohol and tobacco, and active participation in promotional sales campaigns. Furthermore, the role involves preparation of hot food items, cleaning duties, and ensuring the store environment is pleasant and welcoming to customers.

Employees in this role are expected to demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, maintain an attractive personal and uniform appearance, and uphold all municipal, county, state, and federal laws applicable to store operations. The retail team member will engage in daily inspections of perishable products to ensure freshness, manage product displays and restocking duties to maintain appealing store shelves, and perform various cleaning tasks including floor mopping, trash removal, and restroom sanitation. The work also involves safety-conscious handling of materials and deliveries, using proper lifting techniques and safety equipment to maintain a hazard-free workplace.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Take measures to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location
  • operate POS (cash register and fuel console) precisely and accurately manage money and other types of payment received for product sold
  • enter all transactions into the register, accept payments and account for all funds
  • perform service transactions in accordance with company policy including credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales, and fast-food sales
  • check identification for alcohol, tobacco, and lottery products according to company policy
  • actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns
  • practice suggestive selling and build customer relations
  • review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations
  • maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and name tag
  • prepare hot food items as designated by Store Manager
  • ensure the store is free of litter and spills and all equipment is sanitized and functional
  • sweep floors and mop as needed
  • wipe down fuel delivery area and pumps, and maintain outside water/trash
  • ensure restrooms are spot checked and restocked
  • perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, trash, floors, and other duties as assigned
  • front face cooler and Hydrazone cleaning and dusting merchandise
  • clean station windows and organize backroom supplies
  • receive product deliveries and stock shelves using proper techniques
  • wipe down counters and food warmers, keep trays clean
  • re-stock merchandise to prevent holes or sparse shelves
  • conduct daily inspections of perishable products for freshness and proper rotation
  • follow company policy on robbery/violence prevention and store safety procedures
  • act as backup cashier during Barista shifts and operate POS accurately
  • brew fresh coffee every 2 hours and maintain condiment bar
  • during night shifts, perform deep cleaning tasks including drains, restrooms, machines, and preparation for morning rush
