The Head Cashier position is a vital role within our front-end operations team, responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient checkout processes while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Cashiers play a critical role by providing fast, friendly, accurate, and safe service to our customers. They handle checkout and return transactions, monitor and maintain the self-checkout area, and actively engage in product and project knowledge to better assist customers and identify sales opportunities. The Head Cashier supports this team by managing cashier positioning, expediting price checks, approving point of sale transactions and markdowns across multiple service areas such as mainline registers, self-checkout, returns, pro desk, special services, and tool rental.
In addition to operational duties, the Head Cashier acts as a first line of escalation for customer issues, ensuring swift resolution to maintain satisfaction. They also assist in supervising, coaching, and training front-end associates, particularly new cashiers, leveraging all available tools and resources to help develop others in the team. This role demands a proactive approach to shrink control by adhering strictly to company policies and procedures, thereby minimizing losses.
