The Cashier role at our restaurant is a vital customer-facing position responsible for providing impeccable service from the moment guests place their order until they receive their food and beverage. The primary duties involve accurately taking orders, processing both cash and credit card transactions, and serving food and drinks with professionalism and friendliness. This role requires someone who can maintain a clean and organized workspace and perform various side duties to support the smooth operation of the restaurant. The Cashier must excel in customer interaction, demonstrating good communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure during busy periods in a lively and crowded setting. In addition to handling transactions, the Cashier ensures compliance with all relevant laws, especially those pertaining to alcohol service, and follows strict cash handling procedures to maintain accuracy and security. The position also involves the use of the Toast Point of Sale (POS) system to manage orders promptly and efficiently. Candidates with experience in fast-paced restaurant or bar environments are highly valued, and those who bring additional language skills will be given preference. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 to meet minimum age requirement of the state of California to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures
  • Must be able to work and move quickly in a tight-space environment in a safe manner without disrupting other employees
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
  • All employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat clean and well-groomed appearance in accordance with the companys grooming standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience in a fast-paced restaurant or bar
  • Food handlers card preferred
  • ABC service certification preferred
  • CPR certification and or first aid training preferred
  • Ability to read write and speak the English language to interact with customers the public and employees
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of food and beverage etiquette customer relations and service standards
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Toast POS system and cash handling reports
  • Knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of restaurant
  • Must have knowledge of all required legal documents such as ABC health department police city etc

Job Duties

  • Meet all performance expectations and comply with all company policies as set forth in the employee handbook including but not limited to all performance attendance and conduct requirements
  • Provide exemplary customer service in a professional manner
  • Enter orders accurately and promptly in the Toast POS system
  • Process cash and credit card transactions
  • Following proper cash handling procedures
  • Accurately quote wait times to customers for their orders
  • Provide necessary cups for NA beverages as well as wine or beer upon order
  • Serve ordered food and drink items
  • Assist with packing up to go orders and handing them to customers
  • Perform instructed side work
  • Restock all to-go products at the end of each shift
  • Serve beer and alcohol in compliance of all ABC laws and policies only if cashier is 18 years or older
  • Ensure proper set up and break down of stations before and after operating hours
  • Maximize all marketing of restaurant including social media
  • Complete any and all assigned cleaning duties including stocking organization bussing tables and taking out the trash
  • Attend all departmental and service training seminars as requested or assigned
  • Any additional responsibilities as directed by the general manager
