Leonard's Bakery is a renowned bakery established in 1952, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The malasada is a traditional Portuguese pastry, essentially a donut without a hole, characterized by balls of dough fried to a perfect golden brown exterior with a soft, fluffy interior. We are seeking a dedicated Cashier to join our team in a fast-paced bakery environment. This position offers a starting hourly pay of $16 plus tips, which can add an additional $4 to $6 per hour. The role is full-time with shifts available in the morning and evening, including 8-hour shifts. Weekend availability is preferred, allowing the bakery to maintain smooth operations during peak customer times. The location of the work is in person at 933 Kapahulu Avenue in Honolulu.
The Cashier will be an essential face of the bakery, responsible for greeting customers warmly, taking orders efficiently, and managing financial transactions using cash registers. No prior experience is required as Leonard's Bakery provides all necessary training, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to begin or grow their career in the food service industry. While prior restaurant or customer service experience and knowledge of food safety and sanitation are preferred, they are not mandatory.
Key responsibilities include assisting customers with order placement, preparing drink orders, maintaining cleanliness in the work area by sanitizing counters and wiping windows, restocking kitchen supplies and merchandise, and supporting end-of-shift cleanup tasks such as washing dishes and mopping floors. The role also demands adherence to food handling and safety procedures to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for both customers and staff.
This position requires standing for long periods during shifts, up to 8 hours, and the ability to follow directions accurately while working collaboratively within a team. Job Requirements
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment preferred but not required
- Experience with Toast POS preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Must be able to stand for duration of work shift up to 8 hours
- Weekend availability preferred

Job Duties
- Assist customers in placing food orders
- Greet customers entering the store
- Manage transactions with customers using cash registers
- Collect payments whether cash or credit
- Prepare drink orders
- Maintain a clean work area by sanitizing counters/wiping windows
- Assist in restocking kitchen supplies and merchandise
- Clean and restock supplies at end of shift
- Wipe down surfaces
- Wash and sanitize dishes and kitchen equipment as needed
- Sweep and mop floors
- Follow proper food handling and safety procedures
