The role of Head Cashier is a pivotal leadership position within the retail store's front-end team. This role goes beyond typical cashier responsibilities by including supervisory duties over other Cashiers and Front End Associates. A Head Cashier is tasked with not only processing transactions efficiently but also ensuring that policies and procedures aimed at minimizing losses are rigorously followed. This includes monitoring the Self-Checkout area to prevent shrinkage and expediting price checks and approvals for markdowns across various transactional points such as mainline registers, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. The position requires someone with at least one year of cashier experience who can provide first-level escalation for customer issues, playing a vital role in conflict resolution and customer retention. The Head Cashier supports the training and coaching of new and existing Cashiers, utilizing all available tools to foster development and enhance team performance. Job Duties

  • provide fast, friendly, accurate and safe customer service
  • process checkout and/or return transactions
  • monitor and maintain the self-checkout area
  • proactively seek product/project knowledge to provide customer information and identify selling opportunities
  • follow all policies and procedures to minimize shrink
  • position cashiers and support them by expediting price checks
  • approve point of sale transactions and markdowns for mainline registers, self-checkout, returns, pro desk, special services, and tool rental
  • provide first level escalation for customer issues
  • assist in supervision, coaching and training of front end associates
  • participate in training new cashiers
  • utilize available tools to coach and develop other cashiers
