Job Description

The hiring company is a hospitality establishment specializing in offering a warm and welcoming environment for guests, with a strong emphasis on guest relations and exceptional customer service. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cashier to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in creating and facilitating an environment focused on guest satisfaction while ensuring the financial integrity of each transaction conducted throughout the shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying initial cash, answering phone calls, and performing a variety of front-of-house tasks including making coffee and tea, cooking soups, setting up and breaking down condiment stations, and maintaining clean and fully stocked service areas.

The Cashier acts as a barista for specialty drinks, handling the preparation of beverages and desserts such as frosting cakes and cutting bars and brownies. This position also involves supporting the team by occasionally substituting for roles such as Expo, Server/Assistant, or Bussing. Aside from operating the cashier station, the role requires active engagement in upselling and suggestive selling of our products as well as communicating effectively with guests regarding menu items, food allergens, and nutrition information.

This is a full-time position that will benefit candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with diverse tasks. In addition to handling cash and POS systems proficiently, the ideal candidate has excellent guest service skills, strong communication, and is organized and detail-oriented. The Cashier ensures that the front-of-house remains visually appealing through the setup and maintenance of displays, table tents, and signage. Maintaining cleanliness by mopping, sweeping, and trash management also forms important aspects of daily responsibilities.

Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent and preferably have at least three months of cash handling experience, especially in a restaurant or retail environment. A State Food Handler card or ServSafe certification is required where applicable. Proficiency in basic math and English language skills, both written and spoken, is essential for accurate transaction handling and effective guest communication.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Makes coffee/tea and other drinks as required - serves as barista for specialty drinks
  • Packages sweets and cakes
  • Sets up and maintains abundant displays/changes out displays based on time of day
  • Responsible for condiment station set up
  • Responsible for FOH set up (table tents/stanchion signs, etc.)
  • Responsible for cashier station to include operation and cash flow
  • Verify initial cash
  • Ensures accurate financial transactions
  • Answer phone
  • Can describe food offerings/allergens/nutrition
  • Engages in upselling and suggestive selling of our products
  • Frost cakes
  • Responsible for maintaining a stocked FOH
  • Cut bars/brownies
  • Empty trash when required
  • Mop and sweep as required
  • Communicates effectively with guest
  • Alerts Manager to any guest issues for immediate resolution
  • Smile, friendly, takes appropriate action to guest requests
  • Supports and promotes company initiatives (sales goals, guest service goals, food safety goals)
  • Follows safety and sanitation requirements
