The role available is that of a Cashier at California Fish Grill, an essential position within the restaurant's frontline operations. This hourly position is accountable directly to the Restaurant General Manager and Training General Manager. The Cashier is responsible for executing cash and credit card transactions accurately for menu items purchased by guests throughout the restaurant's operating hours. This role is critical in ensuring a smooth and positive guest experience by providing excellent customer service, handling payments efficiently, and maintaining thorough knowledge of the menu and pricing.
The successful candidate will greet guests warmly, take and repeat their food orders to ensure accuracy, and process several payment methods including cash, credit cards, and gift cards. They will be adept at quick correction of order errors and have the ability to detect counterfeit currency to safeguard the business and guests. The Cashier must confirm age restrictions before serving alcoholic beverages and maintain a high standard of guest satisfaction by displaying professionalism and courtesy.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education training and experience
- Prior experience in cashier or food service positions
- Valid ServSafe or food handler certification
- Ability to properly charge the correct price for food and drink items ordered
- Ability to operate a POS
- Ability to operate credit card equipment
- Ability to interact with guests effectively
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Maintain composure under urgency and pressure
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to be aware of and follow job safety policies
- Proficient reading and writing skills
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to stand reach lift bend kneel stoop climb push and pull items up to 50 lbs

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years related work experience or any equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Prior experience related to cashier or food service positions
- Valid ServSafe or other approved Food Handler Certification
- High level of integrity and honesty
Job Duties
- Greet guests receive food orders repeat food orders charge the appropriate price for each menu item ordered by guests receive the correct amount tendered by guests and provide the correct change for each transaction
- Enact gift cards requested by guests
- Be very familiar with and up to date with California Fish Grill Restaurant’s menu and prices
- Interact with guests in a friendly fast manner
- Make corrections to guest orders in a fast and efficient manner
- Determine counterfeit money and respond to situations involving counterfeit money
- Assure age requirements are verified prior to serving alcoholic beverages
- Treat all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction
- Report to work in a neat and clean uniform well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential
- Keep work area neat and clean at all times
- Clean and maintain equipment used
- Complete requirements for in-service training acceptable attendance uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene and other work duties as assigned
