The successful candidate will be the face of the store, responsible for multitasking various operational duties while working collaboratively with team members to foster a friendly, safe, and clean atmosphere. This position requires a reliable individual with the ability to manage point of sale (POS) transactions accurately, including handling cash, credit card processing, manufacturer coupons, vendor check-ins, as well as regulated sales such as alcohol, tobacco, and lottery products. The candidate will be expected to check IDs to comply with legal requirements and company policy, ensuring all transactions are conducted responsibly.

Additionally, an important aspect of this role is merchandising and maintaining store cleanliness. This includes receiving product deliveries, stocking shelves, and conducting daily inspections of perishable products to ensure freshness and proper rotation. The role also involves preparation of hot food items following store protocols, brewing fresh coffee, managing condiment bars, and monitoring food availability. The candidate must maintain an inviting store environment by cleaning counter surfaces, floors, fuel delivery areas, and restrooms in line with health and safety standards.

Working shifts may vary, including barista duties where the candidate backs up cashiers by processing sales efficiently. Night shifts demand additional responsibilities such as deep cleaning of the store, drains, and restrooms, as well as preparing for morning customer traffic with fresh brewed coffee and restocked supplies. Safety is paramount, with adherence to policies on robbery and violence prevention, emergency procedures, and team-building activities all integral to this role.

This job requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills are necessary to operate PDI Enterprise POS systems efficiently. Candidates must hold at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency and possess the flexibility to work across different shifts and locations within the district when required. Physical demands include the ability to stand and walk for the entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds safely, and perform various physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and handling store merchandise.

Job Duties

  • Take measures to preserve the safety of employees and all others in the work location
  • Operate POS (cash register and fuel console) precisely and accurately manage money and other types of payment received for product sold
  • Enter all transactions into the register, accept payments and account for all funds
  • Perform service transactions such as credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales, and fast-food sales
  • Check identification for alcohol, tobacco, and lottery products according to company policy
  • Actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns
  • Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations
  • Review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations
  • Maintain a neat personal appearance and wear company uniform and name tag
  • Prepare hot food items as designated by the Store Manager
  • Ensure the store is free of litter, spills and all equipment is sanitized and in working condition
  • Sweep floors and spot mop as needed
  • Wipe down fuel delivery area and pumps
  • Ensure restroom is spot checked often and restocked
  • Perform regular cleaning of counter surfaces, store equipment, trash, and floors
  • Front face cooler and dust merchandise
  • Clean windows, organize backroom supplies and equipment
  • Receive and stock product deliveries
  • Conduct daily inspections of perishable products
  • Follow robbery and violence prevention and safety policies
  • When working Barista shift, conduct sales transactions and brew fresh coffee
  • When working night shift, perform deep cleaning duties and prepare for morning rush
