This job opening is with a reputable retail establishment specializing in providing essential products and services to the community. As a retail outlet operating under the G&M corporate standards, the company emphasizes a customer-focused approach, ensuring a friendly, safe, and clean environment for all customers and employees. The role centers on delivering exceptional customer service while adhering strictly to corporate standards and Store Manager instructions. The individual must excel at multitasking, efficiently handling a variety of responsibilities from operating the point-of-sale system to maintaining store cleanliness. This position requires a candidate who is proactive about safety and security, helps maintain compliance with legal requirements, and plays an important part in the presentation and merchandising of the store. Having a smooth and fast checkout process is key in this job, requiring accuracy in transactions including cash handling, credit card processing, vendor transactions, and age-restricted sales such as alcohol, tobacco, and lottery tickets.
In addition to sales and customer interaction, this retail role includes several operational tasks such as preparing hot food, brewing fresh coffee regularly, maintaining the condiment bar, and monitoring the freshness of food products. The individual will engage in merchandising duties such as stocking shelves, dusting merchandise, and keeping backroom supplies organized. The work environment is dynamic and demands attentiveness to detail to keep the store orderly and well-maintained both inside and outside the premises. Regular cleaning tasks include sweeping, mopping, sanitizing equipment, emptying trash, and ensuring restrooms are clean and well-stocked.
The position also supports various promotions and sales campaigns, contributing ideas and effort to help meet store sales goals. Employees are expected to understand and follow store safety procedures, including robbery and violence prevention, and be involved in team-building activities that enhance store culture and customer experience. Flexibility is paramount since the employee must have open availability to work all shifts and may be required to work at other district stores as needed.
Physical demands include standing and walking throughout the shift, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, and handling materials with manual coordination. The work demands stamina and the ability to adapt to different duties ranging from customer service to deep cleaning during night shifts.
