Responsibilities include operating the point of sale system responsibly, managing cash and different payment methods precisely, and ensuring all transactions such as credit card payments, coupon redemption, and sales of controlled products like alcohol and tobacco adhere to company policies and legal regulations.

Beyond transactional duties, this position emphasizes safety and cleanliness, requiring the employee to conduct regular inspections and cleaning throughout the store. This includes maintaining the store’s physical environment, restocking merchandise shelves, and preparing food and beverages according to company standards. The candidate must be comfortable performing various physical tasks, including lifting merchandise up to 50 pounds, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods, and the ability to operate cleaning equipment. There is also an opportunity to operate as a barista during specific shifts, where the associate will brew fresh coffee and maintain beverage service stations. Those working night shifts have added responsibilities for deep cleaning store areas and preparing the store for the next business day.

This position demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, competence in using the specific PDI Enterprise POS system, and an ability to quickly learn job-related tasks while working independently with minimal supervision. A food handler's permit may be required based on local regulations. Flexibility in work availability across all shifts and potential coverage for multiple stores within the district is a critical requirement.
