The role of Cashier at JCPenney is crucial in maintaining a positive customer experience and supporting the store's day-to-day operations. As a cashier, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers, managing checkout processes, and promoting sales programs such as Findmore, rewards, credit, and gift card initiatives. You will help uphold checkout standards, handle returns, re-ticket merchandise, and maintain impulse fixtures ensuring the checkout area is efficient and welcoming. Your involvement extends beyond the register to supporting general store operations, including inventory processes, recovery, and fitting room upkeep. Additionally, you will be expected to adhere to company performance standards related to safety, shrink reduction, and enrollment in programs that measure productivity, attendance, and sales.

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers while providing excellent customer service

  • Promote Findmore and other sales programs to drive sales and improve service
  • Complete checkout processes including returns and re-ticketing
  • Assist with signing and merchandising standards at checkouts
  • Stock and merchandise impulse fixtures and replenishment
  • Call for assistance during busy checkout periods
  • Utilize Point of Sale on Mobile Warrior device for line management
  • Support Omnichannel efforts as needed
  • Assist with recovery, put backs, and fitting room maintenance
  • Participate in annual inventory processes
  • Support company shrink and safety initiatives
  • Meet established performance standards for sales, customer service, profit, productivity, and attendance consistently
