The role available at BJ's Wholesale Club is for a Team Member who will be an essential part of the frontline operations. This position includes processing member purchases efficiently and courteously, verifying and renewing memberships, upgrading membership levels, and offering various membership products. The team member assists in scanning merchandise, collecting payments in multiple forms, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the front-line department. Exceptional customer service is a critical component of this role, as the team member ensures that each member interaction reflects the company's GOLD Member Standards that emphasize greeting, anticipating needs, appreciating members, and maintaining a fast, friendly, full, fresh, and clean shopping environment.
In addition to customer service duties, the team member is responsible for supporting club standards by keeping the sales floor stocked, maintaining signage accuracy, and contributing to the general housekeeping of the club. This role involves working collaboratively with other team members to meet business goals, understanding financial and production reporting related to the department, and adapting with agility to changes in a dynamic retail environment. Team members are expected to produce accurate transactions, manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes, assist members facing technical difficulties, and ensure all club policies are followed meticulously.
Physical demands are part of the job, including frequent movement on hard surfaces, occasional bending and lifting of objects up to 30 pounds or more with assistance, and working in a controlled indoor environment with some exposure to cleaning agents. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior experience in retail or cashier roles preferred
- ability to stand or move frequently on hard surfaces
- ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds and assist with heavier items
- regular and predictable attendance
- ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
- strong work ethic and integrity
