Job Duties

  • Greet and engage customers actively and positively at the checkout lane
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system
  • Handle various payment tenders including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policies
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working to prevent loss honestly and effectively
  • Follow guidelines for restricted sales items such as alcohol, tobacco, and DVDs
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
  • Comply with company policies regarding postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay informed about current, future, seasonal, and special advertisements
  • Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce and comply with safety procedures, report unsafe conditions or accidents to management
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about products and store services
  • Adhere to all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively in a fast-paced environment
  • Act with honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information
  • Seek assistance when needed to resolve customer or business issues
  • Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
