The opportunity at MHID is for a full-time Rehabilitation Specialist, a pivotal role dedicated to moderately complex rehabilitation planning and instructional work aimed at helping adults with mental illness achieve optimum levels of independence. This hourly, non-exempt position pays $22.98 per hour and entails a 40-hour work week with bi-weekly pay. The role involves the delivery of rehabilitative training to an assigned caseload, coordinating consumer needs to maintain community stability, and crisis prevention and intervention. Under general supervision, the Rehabilitation Specialist evaluates clients, plans individualized programs, and teaches vital self-help, self-care, and other necessary life skills according to client assessments. In addition, the specialist is responsible for collecting and reviewing case data essential for determining client eligibility for financial, medical, and social services.

The position requires working closely with individuals across all adult age groups diagnosed with serious emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or advanced degree related to psychology, social work, counseling, rehabilitation, or related fields, paired with experience in teaching and counseling individuals with disabilities. MHID emphasizes trauma-informed care practices and expects its employees to implement these within their work. The specialist must demonstrate clinical competencies, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be able to work effectively within a team setting. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are necessary, as travel within the community is required for service delivery.
